“ Katie still stands as one of the most Talented and beautiful Artists who has ever passed through here”.
- Guy Hornbuckle, Anchor/Producer, WTVA/NBC-TV, Tupelo, Mississippi
“An absolute solid performer. Katie delivers the whole package; a rich soulful voice, with the poise and confidence of a performer well beyond her years.”
- Sharon Mallon, CFCW Radio.
Katie Mission is a young and vibrant 20-year old singer from Sherwood Park, Alberta. It was at the tender age of 6 that Katie realized that music was to be a part of her life when she began to sing and take piano lessons.
Country music had always been a part of Katie's household. One of the first songs she ever sang was a country classic, "Grandpa Tell Me 'Bout the Good Ole Days" by The Judds. She and two of her cousins and her sister sang this for her Grandpa for his 75th Birthday party. This first early performance must have been an indication of what Katie would eventually come to accomplish.
When Katie was 15, her and her Dad were on one of their annual trips to the Canadian Finals Rodeo, held every year in Edmonton, Alberta. As they were on their way out the door, Katie noticed that there was a talent competition being held in one of the auditoriums. One of the songs performed, "A Broken Wing", by Martina McBride, inspired her so much that she turned to her Dad, and told him that next year she would sing this giant of a song in that very competition.
The next year, Katie had accomplished her goal with flying colors. It was her first actual public performance singing country music, and she placed second in this prestigious competition. The following year she had conquered the first place position as well!
With this prestigious win now under Katie's belt, she had an incredibly busy year, and hasn't slowed down since. After being inducted into the Global Country Rising Star program, Katie was sponsored to go on a trip down to Nashville for the Country Radio Seminars Conference. She also has had many performance opportunities including opening for Rick Tippe and Gil Grande as part of the "Say Hay" benefit concerts, singing the national anthem for the Edmonton Eskimos, being part of the Festival of Stars concert at the Winspear Centre, singing at the Big Valley Jamboree Family Stage, and opening for Adam Gregory.
The summer following her win at the Country Vocal Spotlight competition, Katie entered another talent competition sponsored by Northlands Park, and became the first person to win both Country Vocal Spotlight and Talent Explosion consecutively within one year.
Katie's dynamite, power vocals have seemed to leave a lasting impression on audiences all over. In March of 2004, Katie traveled to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to compete in the North American Country Music Association's International Country Music competition, and came back with the title of "International Female Artist of the Year."
Katie's new manager is Maryanne Gibson, Global Country Artist Management. You can contact her at (780) 951-4564 or email Maryanne Gibson if you would like to book Katie for an upcoming event.
